Kenneth R. Smith, MD
Education
A graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, Dr. Kenneth Smith came to Louisville in 1993 as a medical student at the University of Louisville. At the University of Louisville, Dr. Smith received many honors and was published frequently for his research.
With his deep-seeded interests in surgical procedures and achieving the best possible clinical outcomes for his patients, Dr. Smith initially conducted an internship in general surgery before specializing in an ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville. During his training, Dr. Smith was honored to be selected by the faculty to serve as chief resident among his peers.

Experience
Having started his own private practice in general ophthalmology in 2003, Dr. Kenneth Smith prides himself on delivering the highest quality of care in cataract and LASIK surgery. Known both for his surgical skill and his ability to forge strong patient relationships based on trust, warmth and care, Dr. Smith is respected by his patients, colleagues and the community at large. Dr. Smith has been recognized as one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumer’s Research Council of America since 2013. In addition, he received Whose Who Top Doctors Honors and received a Compassionate Doctor Award in 2014. Dr. Smith has performed over 30,000 refractive procedures and serves as a regional director of other LASIK centers in surrounding states.

Personal
A native of Frankfort, Kentucky, Dr. Smith and his family have lived in Louisville for over 20 years. An active member of his church and the community, Dr. Smith is passionate about his city and considers it a privilege to practice ophthalmology in the Louisville area. An avid reader, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his family and participating in various sporting events, including coaching his son in swimming the last several years.
